Premier Sports Medicine Named the United Soccer League’s Preferred Supplier of Athletic Trainer Staffing

The expanded partnership gives USL clubs, including more than 250 pre-professional teams, direct access to Premier Sports Medicine’s national network of vetted, certified athletic trainers.

Premier Sports Medicine (PSM) has broadened its work with the United Soccer League, and the league has named the company its preferred supplier of athletic trainer staffing. The designation opens PSM’s national network of certified athletic trainers to clubs at every level of the USL, including the pre-professional teams that make up the largest share of the league.

The two organizations already had a track record together. USL had used PSM’s network of athletic trainers in the youth space before this agreement, and the expanded partnership widens that reach across the league. Clubs now have a direct way to find qualified athletic trainers in their own local markets instead of sourcing coverage on their own.

The change lands hardest at the pre-professional level, where the USL fields more than 250 clubs. Teams in USL League Two and the USL W League can now draw from a roster of fully vetted, certified athletic trainers. Clubs also have the option to keep the same athletic trainer for a full season, which gives athletes continuity of care and gives coaches and club leadership a consistent point of contact for anything medical.

For the league, the decision comes down to keeping players healthy.
